Lord Ganesha is revered as the son of the Lord Shiva and Parvati and is always honored first in most worship services and rituals. However, here we see Lord Ganesha offering prayers to the Shivling, a symbol of Lord Shiva. Pitambara is another name of Lord Ganesh in Sanskrit.
