Painting on marble tile is done with pure gold leaf and coloured semi precious stones. This art has its origin in the royal city of Jaipur (Rajasthan). Once the design is drawn on marble tile and embossed the gold leaf is pasted on it with an adhesive. These designs are further embellished with pure gold leaf and enamel colours and coloured glass pieces. Finally the whole piece is lacquered.
This is a marble painting of Lord Ganesha seated, with a open hand gesture, as if blessing the onlooker. |
