Our collection of footwear originates from Rajasthan and people staying here are experts in making this type of leather footwear. These come in a plethora of colours and designs, each one crafted by hand, and limited only by the designer's imagination.
Ornamented or heavily embroidered "chappals" or slippers and "Juttis" or Mojaris were produced in Rajasthan since the days of Maharajas. These types of ornamented footwear were used only by the upper class of the society. In those times, these were embroidered with real gold and silver threads and decorated with precious gems and pearls but with the passage of time these were replaced by beads, bells, embossing etc. in order to make them affordable for everyone.
The process of making products from hides includes punching and then leather is gouged to create patterns, studded, sequined and embroidery is done with woolen motifs. A special type of Embroidery known as kashida is done on these products. Women of these area specialize in this art, they add a bit of fancy stitching or appliqué work to give a designer look to the shoes. These Rajasthani jootis n mojaries have another special feature, that have neither a left or a right foot. This Embroidery can be done in two ways, either on velvet first which is then made to cover the shoes or can be applied directly to the leather.
